The following Blogpost is a reflection of what I have been observing and as such I do not compel anyone to find sense in it, however I ask you to read diligently so you can quote me properly so.....enjoy!
I've heard it said more than once that “we shall see what the future holds for us ", I’m
sitting on a lonely corner analysing the trends and listening if not watching
the current affairs. In the midst of #FeesMustFall #Poverty and #Unemployment
Crime becomes a factor in this equation but hold up wait...Those are symptoms
of a problem we think we are experiencing.
We as a nation have been challenged to act within our capacity to
deal with the problems we have for the good of this country, and of course our
future.
"It is counter-intuitive to ask What do we hold for the future than it is to say "what does the future hold for us".
It is
a no brainier that the future belongs to us but what efforts are we putting in
place to shape the quality of the lives we desire to live in future?
Is it a role we can expect answers for from our politicians, we
need to take a stance as one and see to it that we do the little we can to
improve ourselves? It is no doubt our country is in a undesirable condition as
of yet, I am from a underprivileged background and I won't blame it on my
adversity for the adverse effects in my life but rather our education system, I
would like to think that I speak for masses when I say it is poor and further
more I will take time to moralize you a picture.
Compared to our neighboring countries that are struggling
economically we have poor grades and our education is irrelevant for most,
after learning how to read and write some of the things that formed
part of the curriculum were not compulsory for all....can I please set the tone
for this one, let me start by outlining the fact that not everyone is going to
be successful through academic skills as we are all given and gifted
uniquely.
With all that said I would strongly suggest/propose that we adopt
the same model in place for Zimbabweans and our neighbouring countries,
Zimbabwe will be the centre of my argument for obvious reasons. Our country is
populated by people from all walks of life and their standards of living are
far better than our and as such that simply implies that there is something
they are doing different compared to us, the education system I have touched
based about on the previous paragraph is integrated with technical skills that
enables the people of the country to be able to fend for themselves and also be
spoilt to choice where choice is limited.
Possessing technical skills maybe a thumbs down for social circles
but a serious thumbs up for ones finances, I can go in detail about why my
proposal is worth consideration and give you different good elements we can
copy from our diverse African fellows brethren.
What more do you see that can improve us as a black nation not as
south Africans but as African’s for now it is more of a wish than it is a
reality but as an African you can hence the last 3 letters of the word African
reinforce that you "CAN"
