These Streets

The streets are an integral part of our daily lives,
We go up, down, left, right, diagonally, and across from time to time.

These streets produce breadwinners,
These streets produce beggars,
These streets are refreshing,
These streets are depressing.
We jog in these streets because none of us can actually run the streets.

We can never die for the streets,
But we sure can fight, kill, steal, and destroy in the block
For a territory if it's separated and intersects with these streets.
Some of us were born of women but these streets raised us.

They know our life,
They know our individual strive.
We just know and trust in these streets to lead us
Where they may.
For years they've fed us, bruised us, left us in dismay.

In these streets there's both Jesus and Judas,
For our morals often decay.
These streets brought and took joy and suffering.
These streets brought the eloquent and stuttering.

These streets are cold,
These streets are hot,
These streets are warm at dawn.

In these streets, survival and demise is the only guaranteed outcome.
These streets raised legends,
These streets raised crooks,
These streets raised reverend's,
These streets are big enough to be a series of books.
For streets smart people don't learn from the books.

These streets is where some of us will retire.
We don't always judge by attire if required,
For these streets turn a Goodyear tire to a sandal if one desires.
